Varanasi (UP), Jun 28 (ANI): The water level of River Ganges went down significantly in the summer, in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi alarming local residents and triggering water crisis in many parts of the city. The riverbed in the middle of the width of the river started revealing itself as water receded shrinking the level. The water also seemed to retreat from the banks leaving the areas in proximity of the maintained staircase at banks, exposed, uncovering stretch of uneven muddy ground on Wednesday. This is not just an environmental or religious crisis for the people but the problem has also triggered a water crisis in some parts of Varanasi. River Ganges is one of the most sacred rivers of the Hindus and every year millions of people visit the city of Varanasi to take ‘holy-dip’ in the river.
