संतरों से लड़े जाने वाला एक ‘युद्ध’: तस्वीरों में

</figure><p><strong>इटली के उत्तर-पश्चिम में स्थित इवरेया शहर में हर साल सैकड़ों लोग श्रोव मंगलवार का जश्न मनाने के लिए एकत्र होते हैं.</strong></p><p>इस मध्यकालीन शहर के एक बड़े चौराहे पर जश्न का आयोजन किया जाता है और रस्म के तौर पर लोग एक दूसरे पर संतरे फेंकते हैं.</p><p>इवरेया में जहाँ इस आयोजन की तैयारियाँ ज़ोर शोर से चल रही हैं, वहीं पेशेवर फ़ोटोग्राफ़र एंड्रिया कापैलो ने बीबीसी से इस महोत्सव की कुछ तस्वीरें साझा की हैं जो उन्होंने पिछले साल खींची थीं.</p><p>वे बताती हैं कि ‘शहर में इस महोत्सव के दौरान ऐसा लगता है, मानो संतरों की मदद से लोग आपस में कोई युद्ध लड़ रहे हैं.'</p><p>इस त्योहार की बहुत पुरानी मान्यताए हैं जो भारतीय पर्व होली से काफ़ी मिलती-जुलती हैं.</p><p>दरअसल श्रोव मंगलवार, एश बुधवार से एक दिन पहले का मंगलवार होता है जो अमूमन ईस्टर से 40 दिन पहले (सात सप्ताह पहले) आता है.</p><p>इवरेया में इसके पीछे की कहानी ये है कि एक राजा था जो बहुत ही निर्मम था, कठोर था और उसने अपनी प्रजा के लिए बहुत ही कड़े नियम क़ानून बना दिये थे. लोग उस राजा से नाराज़ थे, पर वे अपनी नाराज़गी ज़ाहिर करने का जोख़िम नहीं उठा सकते थे. पर इस राजा का अंत तब हुआ, जब सुहागरात के दिन रानी वॉयलेटा ने उसकी गर्दन चीर डाली.</p><p>शहर के लोग बताते हैं कि इस घटना के बाद गुस्साए लोगों ने राजा के क़िले को आग लगा दी थी और इस दौरान राजा के समर्थकों और उनके मुख़ालिफ़ों के बीच जो संघर्ष हुआ, श्रोव मंगलवार का जश्न उसी को दर्शाता है.</p><figure> <img alt="The band of Pipers and Drummers"
