Kurmis must get Scheduled Tribe (ST) status. This is their right. After independence, there used to be Kurmi in the list of primitive tribes. In 1951 census, Kurmis were excluded from this list. Why they were thrown out was never explained. Now, if they (Kurmi) are demanding their rights again, then they must get their rights. All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) supremo Sudesh Mahto said these things in Prabhat Khabar Samvad. Sudesh Mahto has also been the Home and Sports Minister of Jharkhand.
