Darjeeling, June 21 (ANI): Normal life continued to remain affected in Darjeeling due to the ongoing indefinite strike, called by regional groups demanding separate ‘Gorkhaland’, on Wednesday. The shutters of shops were down, roads remained deserted, vehicles stayed off the roads and schools and colleges remained closed due to the strike. The uninterrupted protests have had a severe impact on the students studying in boarding schools. Although, Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) is yet to ask students, who come from across the country, to leave, the party has already told tourists and migrant labourers to do so. However, the protestors of GJM were seen carrying posters. Darjeeling has been on the boil since June 08 after Gorkha Janmukti Morcha began an indefinite strike against West Bengal government’s decision to make Bengali language compulsory in schools.
