New Delhi, July 28 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, on Friday warned of strong repercussions if any changes were made to Article 35(A) of the Constitution, which grants special privileges to the state legislature. Article 35(A) gives Jammu and Kashmir the power to define the ‘permanent residents’ of the state and provide them with special rights and privileges. Mufti’s remarks came after a non-profit, ‘We The Citizens’, challenged the article’s legality in the Apex Court on the basis that it was never presented before the parliament and was implemented on the president’s orders. The state chief said any tinkering with the article won’t be accepted as it would weaken the forces accepting India.
