Allahabad (U.P.), Nov 27 (ANI): Hundreds of thousands of Hindu devotees visit Sangam – confluence of holy river Ganges and Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati – in Allahabad city every year to wash a lifetime of sins. Hundreds of boats ferry the devotees to the confluence of the rivers Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati, which is considered as one of the holiest spots in our country. A group of Muslim men have joined hands to maintain the sanctity of the river and to ensure that its water remains clean. The volunteers of this group pick up all the waste lined up at banks of the river. Inspired by their determination, several devotees and visitors join these men from time to time. Rivers are considered the lifelines of any nation and in India these rivers are worshipped as deities by the majority Hindu community. This effort by the Muslim men shows mutual respect among the communities for each others’ beliefs and values and ensuring that ‘Sangam’ is not just a confluence of holy rivers, but that of religions.
