Kathmandu (Nepal), Mar 08 (ANI): In a reconstruction bid for earthquake-ravaged Nepal, the Government of India has undertaken an initiative as a part of an agreement with United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to build 50, 000 homes for earthquake victims. The initiative by the two United Nations’ organizations will provide Socio-Technical Facilitation to the earthquake victims of Gorkha, the epicenter of 2015’s earthquake and the Nuwakot district of Nepal. In accordance with the modality, the Indian government is appointing UNDP and UNOPS for the facilitation. As per the agreement sealed on Thursday the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will build 26, 912 homes in Gorkha district and 23, 088 homes in Nuwakot district of the country. Apart from this, Indian Government will give 8.41 million Dollar to the UNOPS and 7.41 Million Dollar to the UNDP. The earthquake of April 2015 in South Asia created havoc in Nepal and took the lives of about 10,000 people and injured more than 20,000 others. Gorkha and the Nuwakot were the districts which had the highest death tolls and were enlisted as "Crisis Hit".
