Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), May 03 (ANI): Students of Aligarh Muslim University and police personnel were injured during clashes between police and students groups surrounding controversy over Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s portrait in the campus. The police tried to stop the AMU students who were marching to police station after Hindu groups protested outside University campus. The students allege they were targeted by police when it launched tear gas and baton charged. Earlier, a Hindu outfit held protest outside Aligarh Muslim University against Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s portrait inside campus. Suprintendent of Police, Atul Srivastava said, “The injured have been taken to hospital for treatment. Police will take strict action against the perpetrators.”
