New Delhi, Sep 20 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Thursday said that the society wants modernity and equality for women. Speaking on the issue of Triple Talaq, Swamy said, "It’s a question of women rights and it is not about Muslims or Hindus. I am surprised that people who call themselves progressive don’t want women to have freedom to have equality. It is not for political purpose. We want modern society and women must be equal to men." Union Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on September 19 informed that Cabinet has approved an ordinance on Triple Talaq. He also informed that an offence will be cognizable only when the FIR is filed by the victim or her close relatives by blood or marriage. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led-government approved the ordinance after it could not be tabled in the Rajya Sabha.
