New Delhi Jan 09 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday announced that the taxes collected in the months of April to December 2016 increased despite demonetisation implemented by the Central Government. He said that the direct tax increased by 12.01 percent in between April and December while the indirect tax rose by 25 percent in the same months range as compared to the previous year. The Finance Minister, who was addressing a press conference in the national capital, also said that the Value Added Tax (VAT) collections increased in 2016.
