Guwahati, Feb 09 (ANI): Assam joins the growing list of states hosting literary fests as it witnessed the three-day long Brahmaputra Literary festival in the beautiful city of Guwahati. Organised jointly by the National Book Trust and the Government of Assam, the event brought to light the Diasporas of literature, arts and languages of Northeast India and was held in the premises of Srimanta Shankardev Kalakshetra Inaugurated by Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar in presence of Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal, the festival focused on the languages, literature, culture, society, traditions, and music of the northeastern region. Authors from 10 different countries, including India, took part in the literary extravaganza which provided an opportunity for interactions and exchange of ideas between readers and the litterateurs. Minister of Finance Himanta Biswa Sharma graced the festival along with other state dignitaries. It is worth to mention that an ample amount of books written by renowned writers from the region as well as various handloom and handicrafts items made of bamboo etc were on display at the festival.
