Goa, May 04 (ANI): The North Goa Police on Thursday has ordered a crackdown on drinking in public places and anyone caught consuming alcohol in public places will be put behind the bars. The crackdown was launched after a meeting among shack owners, representatives from the tourism sector and officers of Goa’s Calangute Police Station. Giving details, Police Superintendent of Police (North Goa) Karthik Kashyap said he had asked his officers to take into custody those found drinking in public under Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code. The decision came following complaints of broken glass and bottles being strewn on Goa’s tourist beaches making them unsafe for tourists and locals.
